maybe it was because i mentioned cinnamon rolls in my last post...subliminal message.

i knew that if i searched long enough, eventually i would find it. then, one day when i stopped at target  (for the vac/seal bags, which i've told you i LOVE), i saw the magical beacon of light...beckoning to me like a long lost friend...
well, this morning, i was drawn to it. now i understand how the little bugs feel drawn to the light! i did it. i made the stop:
LIFE NEEDS FROSTING
i first became aware of the almighty cinnabon when i worked for comair airlines in des moines. our hub was in cincinnati, and my favorite thing to do was to fly into CVG on a day off and people watch; first stop, the main terminal and the cinnabon shop! sure, there was one in our local mall (which i found out later), but it was just so much more extravagant to fly somewhere else for breakfast! there are days when i miss it, but on those days, all i have to do is think about mechanical and weather cancellations. that makes me okay with my decision to become a teacher!

on the way home today, i had time to stop by the post office to put lindsay's gift(the baby earrings and necklace) in the mail! yea! as i pulled out, i debated about which post office to go to on a saturday. thinking one would be less busy (i've never gone inside, but it's a little closer), i went left...i should have gone right. when i got to the little post office, the main office was closed, but i figured they'd have the little machine to weigh it and purchase the stamp...nope. they didn't. so i decided to go to the one i usually go to and the machine weighed it, but it couldn't print a stamp for me, so fortunately i had enough stamps in my bag to get it sent off.

then i came home and got the boys and we went for a walk! it was gorgeous out today, so we drove to a neat little walking trail with a little pond and all. they were great walkers today! they smiled at everyone and didn't chase the ducks or try to eat the turtle. (he was soooo cute and i wanted to pick him up and sneak away with him, but i thought he might pee in my pocket and i might get a fine or something for smuggling him out of the park-they have rules, but i may have forgotten to read the sign).
what do you call a turtle with no legs? ....A TURTLE WITH NO LEGS!!!! but don't worry, he really does have legs.
on our way back to the car, i took the boys on a short cut and guess what. stupid city of addison failed to put up a sign to say: beware, there is one hole, the size of your foot, hidden in the grass, filled with mud and water.
yes, all that from merely stepping in the hole with my other foot it splashed all over!
I'm so glad i had my chacos on and not my other shoes, because they clean up easily. yes, my dog is named after my shoes. they're pretty amazing shoes. and there is actually an interesting story behind them...it's a code name..kinda like the navajo code talkers in WWII...i cannot share.

i have three pair of shoes that i pretty much live in when i am not barefoot. my chacos, keens and vibrams . i really don't like dress shoes and i'm not a big fan of tennis shoes anymore either. i will wear them if i have to, but i try to find good reasons not to have to!

i was planning to have Bible study today, but for whatever reason, no one was able to make it today...hmm..so i decided that i should go ahead and use this afternoon to do some spring cleaning, although our 2 days of spring have passed here in tx and we are into summer weather..88 degrees today.

oh, ok..i was about to draw this to a close, but that just reminded me. our school has been undergoing renovation on the air-conditioning unit. for years it has been the evil villain trying to thwart learning. it was frigid upstairs (we were wearing sweatshirts and coats) and it was sweltering down on the opposite side of the building. so we were in line bc of a grant to get it fixed. well, they've been doing a lot of work, and our hallways look like the caves in a mine with the temporary lighting that they put up (it feels a bit like the 'fire in the hole' ride at silver dollar city)...and they 'turned the air on' the other day in the middle of our TAKS test. well, it didn't get any cooler on our hall, but it did sound like we were standing at the bottom of angel falls (which i would've enjoyed much better). yesterday the principal took one of the gentleman (i use that term loosely) upstairs where we were sweating, and the guy stood up by the vent and put his hand up there and said, "well, it's blowing cold air." umm...as one of my coworkers said, "does he think we're stupid?" just because it makes a loud noise, and blows air, doesn't make it cold.

but i am thankful that the other side of the building has cooled off because they have been miserable for ages. i'm holding to the hope that perhaps it will get fixed, but...who knows...it probably wasn't in the bid to make sure that it works.i mean, it looks like they did work, and it sounds powerful.

well, off to clean! and do laundry...and start some honeydew melon!
