may day! my armpits are killing me!

may day may day! not a summons for help, (which actually is mayday, and according to wikipedia: It derives from the French venez m'aider, meaning 'come help me' ), but rather a beckoning to the pole to frolic around with colorful ribbon! the boys and i were going to leave may baskets at the neighbor's house, but all i had were fake flowers and no twigs...i really didn't even have any baskets-only gallon-size ziploc baggies...and that might just be construed as weird. chaco said, "momma, we could put flour instead of flower..get it?" he's in the little-kid joke stage, and i'm afraid putting a white powdery substance in a baggie for may day would not be a wise choice.

i remember in elementary school in brodhead one year we made may cones (a conical shaped basket-like thing) and our teacher explained the tradition, so on the way home, i found flowers..okay, dandelions and grass and laid it in front of the door and rang the doorbell, then i ran and hid waiting to see the expression on mom's face. well, i cannot remember if she found the flowers or not, but i know i would've been pretty upset if i'd come all the way downstairs and no one was there, and there was no big basket of flowers waiting for me!
not only is it may day, it is my niece's birthday! woohoo! i cannot wait to hopefully see pics of the celebration on hollie's site this week! i'm sure they've spiced it up real nice!

the rainy-ish weather outside makes me want comfort food, so it is quite possible that i might've  pulled together some peach crisp with coffee. my mom is probably shocked that i ended up being able to bake and cook. in high school, i was not the domestic-type. all i wanted to do was play sports...and that's about it.
can you smell the cinnamon?

it's getting warm out (not today-i already mentioned it was raining today, but as a general rule, it's getting to be summer). i have the embarrassing sweat syndrome. i suppose we all perspire, but i have pitted out too many tshirts in my day. so i went to the doctor and got aluminum chloride. this afternoon, i used some and it felt like i had poked needles under my armpits and poured lemon juice in there-ouch! i am NOT happy about that, but i know i'll be great with the results because i've used it before.
i share this because it was always so embarrassing to have sweat spots under the arms, it is prescrip, but worth it!
i thought i just saw lightning outside, but it might've just been the boys playing with the camera...hope not because the battery's low.
 happy may day!
