the boys are spartans (cheerleaders that is)

this morning i got to school and as i was making my way to my desk, i noticed the source of the smell. some days in the afternoon, it reeks of cologne in my classroom, and i'm pretty sure it isn't me and i'm also pretty sure it doesn't smell very good. under one of the desks, i found the timberline (which reminds me of the pop band timbiriche!). our students are at that crazy-strange age and their bodies do in fact get b.o. and so they don't know to use deodorant, instead they just try to mask it with the likes of timberline...so we have sweaty kids that smell like lumberjacks...great. (no offense to any lumberjacks out there, i'm sure there's a rugged attractiveness about it..)
if i could only share the aroma with you via the internet, then truly you would understand my world just a little better. that said, i am pretty sure they named this fragrance timberline because...this is the altitude above sea level at which trees cease to grow...so there are a lot of lonely trees...i'm pretty sure if you use too much of this stuff you'll be pretty lonely too! so, i decided to carefully find a spot for it in my own personal 'lost and found.'

yesterday when i took the boys for a walk, as we walked by the kiddie park, i heard little girls up on the slide stand yell "CHIHUAHUAS!" bruno and chaco looked around, then they looked at me. "surely she's not talking about us," bruno said. i put my 'i'm-staying-out-of-this-one' face on. then out of nowhere, they both took a stance that i immediately recognized, and they started out: arf, arf, arf, chihuahua small dog! chihuahua small dog! introduce yourself! arf!
bruno: my name is bruno and i'm a yorkie. if you don't know that, then you're a dorkie.
both:  arf, arf, arf, chihuahua small dog! chihuahua small dog! introduce yourself! arf!
chaco: my name is chaco, yorkshire terrier. if you call me a chihuahua again i'll bite your face off.
chaco is more of a prose guy, and doesn't quite get the whole rhyming bit. i hustled them on out of there as quickly as i could. gotta start getting them to bed before snl from now on!

cinco de mayo!! um..we didn't celebrate at school. the closest we got was one of my little bitty students asking me what chaco and taco were getting me for mothers day. smile.(i'm sure bruno would've taken it in stride and smiled politely).so perhaps we'll figure out a way to celebrate tonight..maybe a piƱata for the boys...maybe a spanish novela..no..sabados gigantes, although it's not sabado...no...hmm...how about a little parks and rec and 30 rock and maybe some chips and salsa! yep...that's about right! perhaps i can get out the stapler and pretend it's castanets and sing a little cucaracha song as well

hope the video thing works...first time for everything! actually, this was the reason i got chaco...so i wouldn't have to play the stapler-monster game with bruno...now i still have to play...but with both of them. (get to).

remember-just because a dog is small doesn't make it a chihuahua!
