i just face-painted a squiggly line and a deformed shape on his face...his fault.

i agreed to help my friend this weekend by face-painting for a special event before my back started really hurting. but i'm glad i went because it was a wonderful fund-raiser for a young man who has a difficult disorder, and this will help him as he prepares for college.
face painting is open...sorry kid, you're going to have to stand because i can't kneel!

the paint was a little translucent, but in the end it worked, and it was the easiest for the kiddos to wash off!
next time, i think there should be a new rule next time. if the child is 4 or under, they only get squiggly lines and deformed shapes on their faces, because they move entirely too much and they don't know how to keep their face from twitching and going randomly from straight face to smile to frown within one try at a star. hmm.

there was another friend helping as well, and one of the girls came back after showing he face painting to mom and said, "i have to cheer at half-time, so i'm going to have to wash this one off." (the nice way of saying she wasn't thrilled).

on the way back, i stopped at the harmon's house to visit because i don't get up there often, but they weren't home. so i text their daughter, a dear friend, and found out they were out. so we made a brunch date to catch up today. i love the egg and i.the drive there seemed longer than it should have...not to belabor the issue, but the back is getting worse by the day-i am feeling every bump when i drive and it is difficult to move around and adjust myself in the seat. anyhoo, we were there forever, and it was so good to catch up!

while we were there, there was a couple in the far corner who obviously have been together for a long time...
yep, both reading their own novels....maybe they were having a book club...
that's the way to do it! avid readers-hopefully reading will give them something to talk about later...when the food arrives!

and i just saw xochitl's post-THE GIRL IS FINALLY ENGAGED!!! CONGRATULATIONS, FRIEND!!!

off to do some lesson plans,

going out for bananas...as opposed to going bananas...

i swung by bed bath and beyond on the way home to get some comfy towels and a wedding gift (the wedding isn't until may 5th, but hey, better early than late, right?)...i'm so excited about new towels that i kinda' want to take a shower right now!

i warmed up the spicy green chicken chili for dinner. i made a batch last night and it is quite spicy (even after leaving out 2 of the poblano peppers! whew!) but it's the kind of spicy that makes you want just a little more!
it mostly makes me happy because i made so much and i don't have to make dinner now.
i didn't have dessert, but i found a recipe on my friend's blog ...it looks so good! and it seems so easy, i cannot wait to try it!

Ingredients:
Frozen Bananas (approx 1 cup)
Coconut Milk (approx 1/2 cup)
Cinnamon & Nutmeg to taste

pop it all in a blender and eat. (doesn't that sound delicious??!)
(so i'll probably be heading out for some bananas in a moment)...

 --------next day---------
today i woke up, and my back is killing me once again, so i'm going to have to try to get in touch with a doctor that some friends have used and see if i can't get this taken care of! boo. but i went out in search of a dress to wear for the wedding; saw some cute ones, but i wasn't 'in love' with any of them (perhaps because i was wearing tennis shoes, and it just looked funny...) so i will try again on another day.

i was under the impression that we were going to receive an email from the teaching trust on thursday (the one that already passed), and obviously that was a falsity...i just figured i would receive it on friday..the new thursday. but that didn't happen either, and another gal who went through the same process called and they told her they were mailing out the responses...prolonging the waiting even further.

ok, i'm off to buy bananas!

will it storm tonight? who 'nose'..chaco doesn't really care.

i definitely should NOT have tried to jog/walk on the treadmill the other day...my back is remonstrating against me. boo and ouch. it was much more difficult going down the stairs today than walking up. and today when i was ready to leave, the elevator was down, so i took everything back to my room and reconfigured so i could take as little home as possible.

i love it that it is raining outside right now and it's still nice enough to sit out on the balcony with a cup o joe (coffee, not a cup of joe montana) and relax. i loved it when i was up in iowa and the rain would come rolling in on clouds and the lightning was everywhere. my parents' garage faces the oncoming weather, so it was like hg..3d tv and all that jazz...i had a great set-up with my camp chair and a blanket, chai tea latte and some classical music. i love it when memories like that linger.

one night there was a tornado warning and my mom and dad were inside playing cards with friends, so dad popped his head out and said, "if you hear what sounds like a train, you should probably come on in and go downstairs, because it's probably a tornado." then he went back in to finish their game.

chaco had no desire to join me outside-
yes, he merely stuck out his snout and mumbled, "go out without me."
so bruno, feeling adventurous, joined me for a bit and then started barking at the neighbors, so we ventured back inside.

this daylight savings thing is killing me-i hate that it gets so dark and it feels like it's 10 pm when it's only 8:30. grr. i definitely had to check twice this morning on the way to work because it was so much brighter out-i thought i might be late...never~

goodnight...early,
julie
