do something

today was a chill-to-the-bone day...which we just don't get a ton of here, and this one came earlier than necessary! ok, it wasn't as cold as iowa, but it was blustery. you have no clue how relieved i was when i got to my car and saw that the tire was indeed still inflated! then i did a happy shiver (i'd have done a happy dance, but my hands were full and i was cold b/c my coat was left in my classroom over the weekend).

when i got to school i sent out a couple of e-mails and got some small stuff done. and classes went pretty well-i think the kids' books might actually get done. cross fingers! cross anything that crosses. i also offered to go to the navidad en el barrio to help out tomorrow after school...it's going to make for a long day, but i don't want to be one of those people who just says,  "yes, i'd like to help those in need somehow," but never does anything about it. i desire to be more of a person of action.

on the way home this afternoon, i stopped at cvs and as i entered i was thrilled that there was no one at the picture kiosk! it took me awhile because i had a couple of different media cards to access pics from. i did end up using pic C- (A and B were taken on the phone, and they weren't as clear when i printed them). and there were some other pics i had to print off as well so i could finish off the ornament books--here's one of them! one of the pics wasn't the right size, so i will have to reprint a different one. boo.

there is nothing really quite as satisfying as doing something to let someone else know how special they are. so, don't hesitate.do something.
have a great evening! can't wait to show you the cards we made!

bring the bathroom to me!

sometimes as a teacher, you just have to leave your classroom to use the restroom. today one of my students got flustered because i had to leave and they had to be quiet and sit, and he said, "why do you have to go to the bathroom? why can't they bring it to you?" wouldn't that be nice? i only wish!

then after school i was able to pull together a quick vocabulary bulletin board. it'll be up until Christmas, then we'll switch it again...i left the background in green because i think it's important to be consistent and keep a routine...ok, actually i may have been too lazy to put up the background paper. ugh. next time.
hopefully we can get more kids to use it.
when i got home, we tried pics again. still not what i was hoping for.

i was able to find a these great little ornament/books...all i need to do now is get some good pictures of my friends that are the right size so that i can make some fun little deal-y-ma-bobs.
i'm pretty sure i have plans for these...and it will not be my principal and vice principal...i don't think they would see the comedy in that.
tonight we received the news that one of my classmates who had been battling cancer for awhile now passed away today. we had a very small class (59..60-something?) but freda was one of those silly, fun girls. she was a little shy, loved Jesus and she always had a positive demeanor! it is kind of a reminder that as much as we think we are in control our lives, we are not. for this reason, enjoy the small moments!

blessings,
