so, when i went in on monday to have the mri on my back, i kept hoping that the screw they put in my knee when i had the first acl surgery was plastic...a scene from ncis was playing through my head of a dead man in the mri and something under his skin started moving and a needle that had broken of in his skin flew out of his neck and stuck into the mri machine! bad scene to have playing...
so i lay there motionless with the headphones on (i don't know what purpose they served because i couldn't hear a thing that was playing), and the machine kicked in with some sharp pounding noises-sounded like i was in the middle of a construction zone wit jack hammers around my head. then it switched to a strange mating call of some sort of goose. from there, some more jack hammers and then it went into a techno-tronic beat...strange. the best part was that the screw in my knee must be plastic!
then yesterday i started a steroid pack...i think it started to kick in today because today wasn't so much painful as it was simply discomfort. progress.
today i decided on salad for lunch, and made a dressing that i really loved!
2 Tbs oil
1 Tbs apple cider vinegar
a pinch of dill
a few shakes of crushed red pepper
1 tsp sesame seeds
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 Tbs dijonaise
1 tsp truvia
shake it all up and love it! the dijonaise has about 5 calories, no worries.
one more day of staar testing. boo. good luck fifth graders! good luck me. today i was so going to take my bathroom break and take some nail clippers with me to the bathroom to clip my nails because i forgot to this morning...i looked through every pocket in my purse and i couldn't find one set of clippers-i usually have two! grr. so i just went ahead and did what everyone else does...business.
oh, and i have been enjoying my green morning smoothies...this morning i tried a little peach, some banana with grapes, kale and red chard-one of the better ones so far...it's what's for breakfast these days.
good day-

ever been mooned by a tree?
this morning i woke up and took a shower-anyone else ever get overheated when you step out of the shower and get a little light-headed? well, i did this morning and i had to lay down on the bathroom floor for a minute, and bruno came over and licked my face, said, "get up!" and trotted off. so i did.
the day kinda' went by in a blur, then i had my appointment with dr. frank. they think i might have a back problem...just kidding, they know that much! they actually sent me to get an mri today to see what was happening with the nerves and the spine.
they scheduled my mri for 5pm, and i got there at 4.45, yet i didn't get in for the scan until 6.15. what in the world? and they made film copies for me, so i can take them in with me to the follow-up.
and i got a prescription of some type of steroid to reduce swelling and see if it'll get me feeling better.
i took the boys for a walk yesterday and as we got closer to this tree, i had to cover their eyes and divert their attention because this tree was mooning us! rude, perverted tree!
and on another note, if you're having nanny problems, stop by cabell, because apparently she frequents our staff restroom!
well, i need to get to bed so that i can administer the staar test again. woo. hoo. on the bright side, at least it's easier for me to stand than to sit!

if you have bluetooth, you can either try to brush it with crest, or pair it with your car system!
today is independence day for HONDURAS! warmest wishes to all my catrachos out there! VIVA HONDURAS! when i was in school, this was the day of the big march and parades. every day at school we would practice for the parade and make sure we were marching so that we looked sharp on the day of! to graduate from high school, we had to memorize and discuss the chorus and one of the verses of the national anthem (they gave us spanish language learners a break. smile); at the time, i was not happy about it, but now i am so glad that i did!
over the last few days, i have been trying to figure out how to get the bluetooth in my car to work. this morning i finally figured it out! (i looked in the manual). so i was so excited to get in the car and use it! i love that it linked up my phone music as well! nifty.
i had my back appt today and when i got into the lonely room, the assistant came back with a file and said, "i see you've had several medications," and opened the file that was about an inch thick.FIRST OF ALL, I DON'T REMEMBER BEING ON LOTS OF MEDICATIONS...ONLY 2 and sparingly at that! i looked at it and it said julie robinson, but then i noticed how thick it was and that there were dates back into the past few years. so i quickly let her know that this couldn't be my file. so she looked closely and the id number did not match up, they pulled the wrong file on another julie hmm...who knew.
and when the doctor came in, has hit a few different pars of my body with his little rubber tomahawk. and then he asked how i felt and what i wanted to do. 1. go home and just see how the exercises continue to help or 2. get an MRI. hmmm....let me think $0 or....$400-3500...tough call.
then i went straight to cvs to pick up the just-in-case prescription. and while i was there i saw an unfortunate balloon. i'm sure he just wanted to try to get out of the cage for a little freedom. little did he know that the cage was actually protecting him.
yes, i always find a reason to stop in the card aisle. and today, it was well worth it! i found the most amazing card!
when i got home, it was so beautiful out that i thought for sure the boys would want to go for a walk. so i got them all harnessed up and this is what happened.
so it was just me and chaco.
chaco has gotten really good at walking off the leash as long as he doesn't get too distracted. and i still don't trust him around other dogs. so the leash goes with us and we start out on it until we get out into the wide open space out back.
hope tonight you dream in a silly unicorn voice!
