nye-preparations-safety and security...that's all!

well, it was all over face book in case you missed it, let me wish you a happy new year!
be safe! play nice!

today i had to get out and away from the complex to study, and i had a craving for chili's chips and salsa. so i went over the vocabulary words i had written down this morning and pored over them (about 750 words)...uf. but i got a lot more done there than i would have staying here all day!

have you ever gone into a restaurant, looked at the menu and not found one thing you thought you'd like and left? well, it definitely happened today when 3 people came in and stood up and left about 3 minutes later. hmm...i could maybe understand if you went to an obscure hole in the wall joint that had an ambiguous name and served strange food like armadillo ribs or something, but chili's? you came in not knowing what kind of food you might encounter? pretty run-of-the-mill.

before i left, i ordered the quesadilla explosion to go so i would have lunch tomorrow. after i paid, i left and decided to go to walmart for some small necessities that i needed to make me feel safer-will share those in a moment. but as i got about 5 blocks from chili's, i realized that i had forgotten the to-go bag at my booth at chili's! boo. what a waste of time. i turned around to go get it and thankfully the server didn't laugh in my face! i'm pretty sure the family at the table across from me was wishing i hadn't come back so they could snag it...jerks.
i'm very excited about lunch tomorrow! thank you anna brawner for introducing me to the quesadilla explosion!
when i got to walmart, i knew exactly what i needed, so it was quick-until i got to the checkout line. i went to the 10 items or less, and i think a family was in front of me and they divided their goodies amongst them to avoid the long lines. jerks..must be related to the restaurant family that was eyeing my food....(not really)

when i got home, i was thrilled to finally get my pur filter into the filter-contraption! i just don't have any confidence in the city's ability to treat my tap water well enough for me to want to drink it. i need the tap water for coffee and soda stream, but like i said, can't do it without the purifier!
so, you can see why this is the first product that i purchased that adds to my safety!
the other item is not as much safety as it is security, and i told you about it yesterday.
i did take the last batch the other night, so like i said, it's a necessity to have on-hand when needed!
ok, i've just watched 5 episodes of dog the bounty hunter, and secretly (or not so secretly now), i kinda' like it!

i remember when NYE used to be so much more exciting-at my parents church, they used to have ping pong tournaments, board games, etc. in HONDURAS we used to go out and shoot off fireworks- if i remember correctly, one year some of us climbed the water tower behind my house and took pizza and cokes up and watched all of the fireworks from up there. that was pretty cool.

well, one more dry run of the test tonight and it'll be time to pop the confetti-things!

p.s. in all seriousness, may you have a blessed new year full of fun adventures and wonderful memories!

dissecting puppy waste to ease my mind...ew.

oh praise the real Jesus (not the jesus who married juanita and works at the tire repair shop)! it is friday and dallas isd is giving me a week off for thanksgiving! i guess they think we have a whole lot more to be thankful for! (which we do). so to celebrate, i called in a togo order from chilis. traffic was terrible, and then people were doing one of the things on my top 10 'i hate that driver because' list.
blocking the intersection. jerks.
yesterday afternoon when i got home, i had an empty diet coke bottle on the couch, and bruno grabbed it and started playing with it (i don't need to buy expensive toys, they have great imaginations). well, after a bit, chaco took over and before i new what had happened, he had abandoned the bottle (sounds like he was stopping an alcoholic problem) and he was sitting by me chewing on something and when i looked down at him, he had already eaten the other half of this:
no, not shark teeth! it's the band that goes around the rim of the bottle lid.
i began to get worried. i was imagining it getting caught in his little intestinal tract or something, or that if he tried to vomit it back up it might cut his esophagus. i was worried when we went to bed, and he had not passed it by this morning when i went to school. so it was in the back of my mind all day at school. then when i got home, i saw that he had pooped (and not eaten it), so i picked it up and i may or may not have dissected it with a toothpick to see if the plastic thing was there...i never ever would have guessed that dissecting poop would be a form of extreme relief. but i was SO relieved to see white bits of plastic!! whew! dodged another one! he must have insides made of steel...maybe he's a robot yorkie...uh oh. mavis better not have sold me a robot! i wish he were more discriminant about what he eats, though..

only put things in your body that you know you can pass!

bungee here, bungee there...bungee everywhere!

so..umm..i woke up this morning and it was off to the storage unit! we started at 11:00 and i got there just in time!
bungees to the rescue!! for whatever reason-probably the girl-scout-soccer mom, i keep a bunch in my trunk for 'just-in-cases'

right downtown. it was actually very easy to get to

and yes, it did seem a little like storage wars-the place is huge...like a maze
thank goodness it was not too large of a locker and we eventually got everything down onto the truck. and it was really nice that the locker wasn't too far from the elevator! we kinda did shifts getting everything out and to the elevator, then down and took everything around to the truck. it was good to catch up in the in-betweens of moving stuff. i'm so glad there were two men helping! and once i got downstairs, i even got to help with the packing of the truck! i loved it-it reminded me of when i worked on the ramp for comair airlines, and rps (the equivalent of UPS).

last night i entertained myself with text twist. i've had to go back because as i mentioned, they took away the scramble game. boo. so one of my friends (nika) and i used to play this and it was really fun because instead of trying to get little words, we would only go for the biggest word to get to the next level and level up (which means you don't get as many points, but it wastes less time...
perhaps i was proud of myself last night because i leveled up to 107, and the last time it was level 47.nice jump.
my nickname should be 'master unscrambler' only that is kinda weird for a nickname. scratch that.

i should be reading-yes, reading all of my papers. boo. so tonight i had to go get copies of the rubric so i can read the papers and grade them. and since the kinkos is almost next door to chilis, what seems like the most obvious thing to do for dinner??
that's right chips and salsa and southwest eggrolls!

well, there you have it folks, nothing exciting...tonight i'll be stretching, grading papers and watching live from new york...SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!

start keeping useful things in your trunk-they could come in handy!
